The Best Cartography Websites – CartoTalk

on July 25, 2008 at 11:04AM | Permalink

When I want to talk shop with other cartographers, I go to CartoTalk. This is one of the best online forums for mapping professionals looking to discuss cartographic design, data sources, job postings, software, industry news, and of course maps! Created and hosted by Nick Springer of Springer Cartographics, CartoTalk has a great community of members who are always willing to help new visitors and others answer mapping-related questions. Becoming a member is free, and takes under 5 minutes.

The map gallery section of CartoTalk contains hundreds of topics – everything from peer to peer networks in Maine, to history book battlefield maps, to online interactive maps. Members even post maps there for improvement ideas or advice on how to solve a particular problem. The information in the map gallery, and on CartoTalk in general, will help you refine all areas of your cartographic work. I encourage you to check it out!

    Thanks for the CartoTalk link.

I just submitted the “Aphrodite as an Anthropomorphic Map” limerick to the Off Topic section of the CartoTalk bulletin board.

That is one impressive limerick there. How long did that take you to create?
