Giving Back: Maponics Charitable Donations

on September 11, 2008 at 2:30PM

If you have ordered from the Maponics Online Store or browsed Maponics.com, you may be aware of our commitment to bettering society through charitable contribution. But did you know that 10% of our total company profits go to charity every quarter?

Who Get’s that 10%?

Since our customer base spans the nation, we give to one local and four national charities (see this list with brief descriptions below). These non-profit organizations were chosen for their operating efficiency, which allows the maximum amount of each donation to reach those in need.

Percentage Break Down

Feedback gathered from our online store customers and employees is used to determine the break down by charity. The table below shows this distribution for 2007.

Time and Services Too

Each of us is also encouraged to take two paid days a year to volunteer for a worthy cause. Occasionally, a charity will come to us with a location-based problem that we are also able to solve pro-bono.

Matching ZIP Codes to Neighborhoods

on September 5, 2008 at 11:32AM

The standard geographic unit for the business world is the ZIP Code.  But urban dwellers think about geography in terms of neighborhoods. Whether online or off, this can make it challenging for location-based B to C companies trying to target the right audience. That is, unless they have a way to match the two.  A way to know which ZIP Codes fall in which neighborhoods.

They Connect – You Win More Ad Revenue

Why is this important? Well, let’s say you have an online travel vertical.  Your business advertisers say they only want to target people searching for hotels and services in specific ZIP Codes.  But your searchers aren’t searching by ZIP Code at all – they’re searching by neighborhood.  They have no idea what the ZIP Codes are for the neighborhoods they want to stay in.

With a correspondence file telling you which neighborhoods specific ZIP Codes fall in, you can show the right ads at the right time.  This pairs each searcher with the right business, and wins more ad revenue for you.

How Can You Do It?

Maponics NeighborhoodsTM – ZIP Code Cross Reference database matches over 50,000 unique neighborhoods with their corresponding ZIP Codes.  Because ZIP Codes and neighborhoods do not synch naturally, the database tells you the percent of each ZIP Code that falls in a given neighborhood.  For example a neighborhood could be made up of 30% of ZIP Code A, 25% of ZIP Code B, and 100% of ZIP C. For a sample of this data and more product information visit Maponics NeighborhoodsTM – ZIP Code Cross Reference or contact us at 800-762-5158.
