Pitney Bowes Introduces Maponics as New Source of Carrier Routes

Carrier Route and ZIP Code Boundary Data Enhances MapInfo Location Intelligence Solutions and Improves Direct Mail Targeting

Troy, N.Y.  – September 25, 2008 – Pitney Bowes MapInfo, the leading global provider of location intelligence, today announced Maponics Carrier RoutesTM as the new source of carrier route and ZIP code boundaries for its location intelligence solutions. With postal rate increases, it is more important than ever to optimize direct mailing campaigns. Organizations with access to carrier route boundary data are able to target at the sub-ZIP code level, and qualify for the lowest postal rates on high-volume mailings.

Maponics developed a proprietary process, utilizing data from the US Postal Service and other sources, to create carrier routes and ZIP codes that are both accurate and easy to read on a map. While some carrier route data products result in jagged boundary lines that crisscross roads, Maponics carrier routes align well with commercial street network data making it easier for businesses to identify which specific areas and neighborhoods they want to target. These carrier route and ZIP code boundaries, and the associated center point files, are a valuable asset to organizations planning direct marketing campaigns or displaying postal boundaries via Web-based applications.

The Maponics data features more carrier routes than other suppliers and easily integrates with Tele Atlas Map Data. This makes Maponics Carrier Route one of the best options for MapInfo customers.

“MapInfo is dedicated to providing its customers with access to the industry’s most comprehensive data sets,” said Robert Pipe, vice president, product management and product marketing – Location Intelligence. Pitney Bowes Software. “With Maponics Carrier Routes, we are offering our customers the most up-to-date data and enabling them to make more accurate decisions on high-volume mailings and receive valuable postal discounts.”
